FLOYD CONSTRUCTION
Floyd Construction was founded by Joe Floyd in 1978 in Santa Barbara and relocated to Marin County in 1983. We are a versatile construction company that has since evolved to medium size providing a range of building services from small remodels and repairs to high-end new homes throughout Marin and the greater Bay Area. In addition to residential construction we have done many commercial and landscaping projects. Working with good clients is much more important to us than the size, type, or location of the project. Our clients are our best assets.
We take pride in building strong relationships, which has led to decades of great relationships with clients, employees, and subcontractors resulting in many quality projects. We focus on providing a well-organized building experience. We also believe in keeping an open line of communication with our clients. The first step to a successful relationship is to listen to our clients to determine their goals. Once we understand what they want to achieve, we take the necessary steps to provide it. Building trust is very important to us. Therefore, clients have open access to all records related to their projects. Approximately two-thirds of our business is repeat clients. The other third of our projects come to us primarily from client referrals.
Floyd Construction has a highly experienced and hardworking core of long-time employees and subcontractors ready to take on the next challenge. Working in people’s homes is a delicate balancing act, but our positive attitude, friendly conscientious employees, and attention to detail has led to many satisfied clients. We choose our employees carefully. It is much easier to teach construction skills to an employee than to change their personality. We believe in long-term relationships with our employees and have a very low turnover. Our clients value the stability in our work force.
Please let us know how we can help you.

Joe Floyd
President
After receiving his B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Chico State University in 1978, Joe worked for a Soils Engineering firm in Santa Barbara for 15 months. Since Joe put himself through college by working in construction, he had the 4 years of required experience to qualify for a contractor’s license. Right after college he applied for and received a state contractor’s license. During his time at the Soils Engineering firm Joe realized he missed construction so he decided to focus on construction knowing that his engineering background would be helpful. Even though the economy was suffering in 1979, Joe managed to build a very successful construction company in Santa Barbara. In 1983 when Joe and Jackie decided to get married, they also decided to relocate to Marin, where Joe was raised. Once back in Marin, many of Joe’s relatives began working for the company. Currently, Joe’s brother, sister, son, and wife work for the company along with many long-term employees.
“To be successful in construction a contractor needs to listen to clients, set realistic expectations, communicate well, produce a quality product, and do what they say they are going to do.”

Jon Morales
Project Manager
Jon started his career with Floyd Construction at the age of 17, working in the summer. As a Marin County native, he started as a laborer and worked his way up through the company. Jon worked in the field for eight years as a carpenter/junior foreman before Joe Floyd offered him a position in the office. Since then Jon has worked closely with all our clients and foremen on projects ranging from a small retaining wall to a million dollar remodel.
When Jon is not working, you will find him spending time with his wife and two children. Occasionally he is able to sneak away to ride his mountain bike or hit the slopes for some skiing.
“I have always believed that dedication, integrity and hard work are crucial parts of any business and life. I am very fortunate to work for a company that instills these traits and I look forward to continuing this in the future.”
